Well, I made a big mistake! At work, we have to request time off before the 10th of the previous month and get it approved. Well, since I have so many hours of cto time and because my work is selling ownership of the assisted living place that I work at, I thought I better start using some of that off time before they switch owners and I possibly lose the time off. Go figure, I would chose this week. It's so cold out that you can't stay out for very long without getting frostbite. Do I know how to pick vacation time or what? Anyway, I decided to make the best of my time off. I'm going to get alot of stuff done around the house that I've been putting off. I'm going to read alot, work on my scrapbook, and spend some of the time just lounging in my lazyboy recliner and watching TV. Not a great way to spend vacation time, but I really needed the break from work. Things have been so hectic lately, I really needed some time away. And now with the added stress of . . . Who's going to buy us out? Are they going to keep the work staff? Will I have to look for another job? How much are things going to change here? What kind of benefits will they offer? Will the benefits be as good as what we have now? . . . I really need some relaxation time. I think everything will work out fine, but the fear of the unknown scares me a little bit.

Enjoy your time off! Take it easy. I'm envious, even if your time off is in this cold weather.
But I'll wait until it gets warmer to take my time off, anyway ...
It's better to "use it" rather than "lose it." I'm waiting to see Governor Jenny's speech. My facility is down to two academic teachers (we had five at one time). I can't keep up with the paperwork and might need to take a few cold days off myself.
Somtimes, all we really need to do is to stop, sit back, and just breathe.
Have a wonderfully relaxing vacation, Laura! =)
Somehow I don't think that picture was taken recently, because if it was then I want to come and visit! :) I can only take so much of this below zero weather.
brrrrr it's cold in here!
Hey I hope you enjoy the time off and that you get bought out by nice people

. . . Like I was telling my husband the other day, when the economy is down, employers really "give it" to their employees. I hope things get better for you.

How true. And that's exactly what I intend to do. Breathe and read!!!

. . . No, this picture was taken when I went with my husband on one of his truck runs during the summer. He took this photo at a rest area in Newberry. It's probably colder there than it is here.

. . . Thanks, I just hope they keep us employees and not bring in new staff.

I hear you about change - I hope it all turns out okay! Have fun on your break!
The weather sucks, but it makes me happy to snuggle up with my boyfriend and get warm. =D

. . . Yeah, I'll probably turn into a ice sculpture in this weather.

. . . Everyone is gone all day except for me. The only one I can snuggle with is Taco, and he is way too small to keep me warm.

Massive changes in the workplace can be so stressful. When I worked in concessions, the company switched over to a LLC, and all of it was very shady and ruthless, and for a while there was no telling who was keeping their jobs and who wasn't.

I think we all need a holiday right now! Enjoy it!
